A tragic train crash in the Mexican state of Oaxaca has resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people, an incident likely to revive critical opposition regarding the rapidity and execution of the country's key infrastructure initiatives.
The crash took place on the Interoceanic Train, a route developed to join the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific across the thinnest stretch of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. This initiative was created to provide an different freight railway path to the Panama Canal, aimed at driving commercial progress in the area.
“We shall rigorously clarify the reasons behind this incident,” affirmed the national leader.
The official confirmed that, of the around 250 passengers on board, another 98 were hurt, with five of those in grave condition. The president noted plans to travel to Oaxaca to meet those impacted.

The Interoceanic Train was a cornerstone development scheme of the immediate past president, whose time in office finished the prior year. This venture was closely associated with his government's developmental goals for the southeastern region.
